MOMENTS | Mash-up: Maurizio Cattelan Pierpaolo Ferrari x Yohji Yamamoto’s Manga-Inspired FW14 Collection

We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.
Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari’s work for Toilet Paper features images that warp our the sense of normality, creating a feeling of “familiarity and disgust”. For their most recent issue’s back section art project, Cattelan and Pierpaolo explored the fetishistic nature of fashion with an editorial featuring Yohji Yamamoto’s manga-inspired FW14 collection.
The duo used the collection’s psychedelic anime monster prints and cocoon-like coats to create an editorial story that blended reality with SM fantasy. The goal is to come “into direct contact with the unconscious, striking the imagination and triggering visceral reactions.”
