MOMENTS | Mash-up: Listen the “Strings Of Life” Cover by Four Tet & Legendary Jazz Drummer Steve Reid

We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.

Electronic music producer Four Tet (aka Kieran Hebden) collaborated with the late great New York jazz drummer Steve Reid for various projects. Their previous work together includes albums 2007’s Tongues, 2008’s NYC and (posthumously) 2011’s Live At the South Bank. Before Reid passed away in 2010, the two had recorded a cover of Detroit-based producer Derrick May’s techno single “Strings Of Life.” Though the cover was played on a Gilles Peterson podcast celebrating Reid’s life, the track had not been formally released until Hebden’s announcement today. The limited 12-inch for “Strings Of Life” will include another collaborative track, “Tongues,” and is due to be released soon.
