MOMENTS | Mash-up: Nicolas Jaar Remixes Florence and the Machine’s “What Kind of Man”

We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.

Electro-minimalist producer Nicolas Jaar (of the now defunct duo Darkside) remixed Florence and the Machine’s “What Kind Of Man,” the first single from Florence and the Machine’s new album How Big How Bold How Beautiful, and transformed it into a 12-minute epic. The original guitar-led pop-rock track features a strong, clapped beat and muffled horns and Florence Welch’s signature belting. Jaar takes the pop anthem and stretches out the piece, using ghostly echoes of vocal samples and transforming it into a glitchy electro piece.
