MOMENTS | Mash-up: Zone Out to 46 Minutes of Unreleased Music by Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes

We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.

Though we may never know which filmmaker was crazy enough to fire Dev Hynes (I mean, have they listened to the score for James Franco’s Palo Alto), the music producer has released 46 minutes of the abandoned film score. Hey, the film’s loss is our gain. But, ever the professional, Hynes posted a video of the music with a note that reads: “I spent the last few months working on a film score, then I got fired. No hard feelings. Here’s some of the music. Listen & zone out if you want. Painting by Alice Lancaster. The painting is included above. And here’s some notes on what instruments are used: Cello, Piano, Synthesizers, Percussion, Drum Machines, Flute, Bass, Guitar, EWI, Yamaha wx7, Juno 160, DX7, Marantz PMD 720 4-Track.” No hard feelings, and we got nearly an hour’s worth of new music from Dev Hynes. We think that qualifies as a win.

MOMENTS | Mash-up: Lykke Li Performs A Live Cover Of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” x #FBF Arctic Monkeys, Blood Orange Holy Ghost! Covers

We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.
Back in September 2013, Drake’s his single “Hold On, We’re Going Home” spawned multiple covers and remixes by a myriad of artists that range from indie bands to other RB legends. It’s been over a year since the track blew up the charts, but Lykke Li has started to cover Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” at her live shows as she tours across Europe. Li recently performed the cover at London’s Hammersmith Apollo Theatre, telling the audience, “I’m going to sing this song to you that I love called ‘Just Hold On, We’re Going Home’”.
