“Tail Chair” (2005), wood chair and lacquered wood
Since 2005, Brazilian artist Tatiana Blass has combined wooden pieces with glossy lacquer to create a "melting" effect. With a bright, yet earthy palette, Blass' installations are dreamy but remaining grounded in a recognizable reality. In her piece entitled "Tail Chair," viewers are brought to question the role that functional design plays within the context of fine art. Though we can't sit in Blass' installations, we're still wishing we could have this beautiful mashup of art and furniture in our apartment.
