MOMENTS | Link up: Céline, Kenzo, Viktor Rolf, Janelle Monáe x Charli XCX, David Bowie’s Reading List
Staying relevant on the go.
1. Backstage at the Céline show, Phoebe Philo described her FW14 collection as “[t]ough and tender”.
Impeccably tailored classic shapes with a twist. Fit-and-flared military coats had functionally asymmetrical buttons, and glamorous textures were made softer by a hint of sportswear.
2. The FW14 Paris runway was part three of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon’s David Lynch Trilogy for Kenzo. The printed and embroidered “tool creatures” that multiplied over the looks are a nod to Lynch’s use of tools in his films.
3. We really don’t want Paris Fashion Week to end. The Dada renaissance continues at Viktor Rolf’s runway, though their usual surrealist edge took a more realist turn and employed more subtle uses of the trompe l’oeil.
5. Lookin’ for some good reads? David Bowie has a list of must-read books. As we would expect from the visionary musician and artist, the genre-spanning list includes everything from 50s and 60s era all-American classics to political history and books on creativity.
