MOMENTS | Mash-up: Listen to Terry Urban’s FKA Twigs x Notorious B.I.G. Mash-up Album
We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.
In honor of the recent anniversary of the death of Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G, DJ and artist Terry Urban put together a glorious album of Notorious B.I.G. and FKA Twigs mash-ups. The tracks successfully merge the legend’s East coast rap styling with the English singer-songwriter-dancer’s whispery pop vocals. Though the tracks lean a little more heavily of B.I.G.’s tracks, you’ll still hear the subtle impact of Tahliah Debrett Barnett’s work.
The mash-up takes tracks from Biggie’s albums ‘Ready To Die’, ‘Life After Death’ and ‘Born Again,” blending in choice songs from FKA twig’s EPs and LP1. You can hear a high-pitched “Papi Pacify” and “Who Shot Papi” hybrid as well as chopped and skewed “Two Weeks” and “Going Back to Cali.” Our favorites, however, might be “Notorious Ache” and “Come Closer Poppa.”

We’re feeling a bit of the ’90s throwback vibe, but with a digital FKA kinda twist. Keep it real with a brown leather duffel, but spice it up with some neon orange in technical fabric neomesh.
