MOMENTS | Acronym: Drake’s “WOE” Actually Stands For “Working On Excellence”
We’ve curated the best of digital age-inspired creativity—from user-generated content, mash-ups, and remixes to collaborations between multi-disciplined makers.
We may joke about Drake’s emotional tunes and the jar of tears they induce, but as it turns out, the hook from “Know Yourself“—running through the 6 with my woes—may not be the picture of teenage angst we thought it was. “Woe” also doubles as an acronym for “working on excellence.” In an interview with Noisey, Drake explains, “Woe is my crew. It stands for “working on excellence.” It’s just my whole brand and my whole movement and my way of life for everyone. I want everyone to work on excellence. So, all my friends are my Woes and I feel anybody working on excellence in life is a Woe in life as well.” Damn Drake, that’s pretty poetic.
The next time you’re listening to “Know Yourself,” and Drakes emphatically wailing out that WOE, you know he’s really working on excellence. Happy hump day, everyone! If you need a break from working on your excellence, take 15-minute break to watch Drake’s short film “Jungle.” It also happens to feature the eponymous running through the 6 with my woes!

We can all keep striving to work on our excellence, and who knows where that will take us. Be prepared to go anywhere with this leopard and brown leather overnight. We’re adding a pop of color (hey, spring, are you almost really here?) to the mix with some bright orange neomesh handles.
